Made to Measure Curtains
Please select which side of the door your made to measure curtain will be hanging on. This will help us add your detailing correctly such as a leading edge.
How to measure up for your curtains:
A video guide to help to measure up
Please remember that pattern repeats and fabric widths are automatically calculated. It is advisable to fit your pole or track before ordering your curtains. Your pole or track should extend 20-30cms on each side of the window and at least 15cms above the top of the window to block out as much light as possible.
Poles
Width
If you have a pole, measure the distance between the finials. (A)
Finished length
When measuring the finished length using a curtain pole we recommend allowing between 2cms and 5cms above the eyelet on the underside of the curtain ring, depending on how much of the pole and rings you wish to hide. (B)
From the measurement you choose above the eyelet, measure down to the bottom of the hem. (C)
Tracks
Width
If you have a track, measure the total length of the track, including any overlap where the curtains meet in the middle.
Finished length
When measuring the finished length of your curtains using a track add 1cm above the track (to hide the track) down to the bottom of the hem. (D)
For a Flop Over Frill, if you have a ceiling fixed curtain track and wish to be sure to conceal the track completely add 4cm above the track to your overall length measurement.
We will add 25cms for hem allowance.
PLEASE USE ONLY METRIC UNITS WHEN MEASURING
Our curtains are hand-finished and we use good quality lining and interlining. They include weights and will arrive ready to hang with hooks supplied.
Pencil Pleat
- Less formal look, made with three-inch tape.
Triple or French Pleat
- A smart three pleat heading, better for more formal rooms.
Cottage Pleat
- Looks pretty - made with one-inch tape set two inches down to give a soft gather (very simple but effective).
Inverted Pleat
- Is a simple, unfussy, more contemporary heading.
Flop Over Frill
- Is a soft luxurious-looking heading. Length is approx 15cm.
Double Pleat
- A smart two pleat heading, better for more formal rooms.
Standard Lining
We use a high-quality 100% ivory cotton lining.
Blackout Lining
Our Roman blinds and curtains can be lined with blackout lining to block out the light and help insulate against heat loss.
Lining in Vanessa Arbuthnott Fabric
We use a high-quality 100% ivory cotton lining. You can always line your curtains/blinds in another of our fabrics, but you must be aware that the lining fabric might fade in direct sunlight.
Interlining
We use a good-quality medium weight interlining. Interlining gives a heavier and more luxurious look and insulates against heat loss. It is recommended for all curtains and can be used for roman blinds.
